Minecraft Villager Trades

Every trade for all 13 professions in Minecraft, plus the Wandering Trader. Each villager only offers a small random subset per restock — the lists below show the full pool at each tier. For spawning, breeding and mechanics see the villager entity and wandering trader pages.

Buys coal, iron, lava buckets, and diamonds. Sells chainmail and progressively-enchanted iron and diamond armor — the diamond chestplate from a Master Armorer is a top early-game prize.

Buys raw meats and crops, sells cooked steak, rabbit stew, and sweet berries. A reliable food vendor.

Buys paper and glass panes, sells maps. The Journeyman-level Ocean Explorer and Woodland Explorer maps lead you to ocean monuments and woodland mansions — usually the only way to find a mansion.

Buys sticks, flint, feathers, and string. Sells arrows, tipped arrows, bows, and crossbows — the Master-level enchanted bow is reliably good.

Buys leather and rabbit hide, sells dyed leather armor and saddles. The Master-level saddle is one of the few non-loot ways to obtain one.

The single most valuable profession. Buys paper, books, and ink sacs. Sells enchanted books, name tags, glass, compasses, and clocks. Worth reset-locking until you find Mending I for cheap.

Buys wool, dyes, and shears. Sells dyed wool, beds, banners, paintings, and carpets. The dyed-wool trade is the cheapest renewable source of every wool color.

FAQ

How do villager trades work in Minecraft?

Each villager picks a profession by claiming an unclaimed job-site block (e.g. a Lectern for Librarian). They start at Novice level and unlock new trades at Apprentice, Journeyman, Expert, and Master as you trade with them. The level pool determines which trades they can offer — not all trades appear at once; each villager only shows a small random subset per restock.

How do you change a villager's profession?

If a villager has no trades yet (level Novice, 0 XP) you can break their job-site block and replace it with a different one. Once they've traded with you even once, their profession is locked.

What's the best villager trade in Minecraft?

The Mending I enchanted book from a Librarian (5 emeralds + 1 book) is widely considered the single most valuable trade in the game. Mending is unobtainable from enchanting tables and keeps your gear repaired indefinitely.

How do you get a Wandering Trader's llama?

You can't tame a Wandering Trader's Trader Llama directly, but you can lead it away with a lead, or kill the Wandering Trader and the llama becomes a wild Trader Llama you can tame by feeding it wheat or hay bales.
