String can be obtained by breaking Cobweb and Tripwire, or by killing Spider and Cave Spider.
What is the Minecraft ID for String?
The namespaced ID is minecraft:string, used in the /give command: /give @p minecraft:string 1. In legacy versions before 1.13, String used the numeric ID 287. Numeric item IDs were removed in the 1.13 "Flattening" and no longer work in modern commands.
