Potion of Night Vision
See in the dark, and underwater, as if at full brightness.
Every effect potion in Minecraft: ingredient, duration, extended (+Redstone) and level II (+Glowstone) variants, plus copyable /give commands for drinkable, splash, lingering, and tipped-arrow forms. For mechanics behind each effect, see the status effects reference.
Brewing starts with one of these four bases. Awkward Potion is the base for nearly every effect potion in the game.
The starting point. Right-click a Water source with a glass bottle.
Water Bottle + Nether Wart. The base for nearly every effect potion.
Water Bottle + Glowstone Dust. Has no effect — used by mods only.
Water Bottle + most ingredients (sugar, redstone, etc.). No effect.
Tap a variant or form button to update the /give command beneath it.

A Fermented Spider Eye converts beneficial potions into their harmful counterparts (and a few special cases). It's the only ingredient that works directly on a Water Bottle, producing Weakness.
Place a Brewing Stand, fill the fuel slot with Blaze Powder, put up to 3 Water Bottles in the bottom slots, and add an ingredient in the top slot. The most common starting recipe is Water Bottle + Nether Wart, which produces Awkward Potion — the base for nearly every effect potion.
Awkward Potion has no effect on its own. It's the brewing base — adding a second ingredient (sugar, magma cream, glistering melon slice, etc.) converts it into an effect potion. Brew Water Bottle + Nether Wart to make one.
Brew Gunpowder into any potion. Splash Potions can be thrown and affect any entity in their splash radius.
Brew Dragon's Breath into a Splash Potion. Lingering Potions leave a cloud on impact that applies the effect to anyone who walks through it.
Redstone Dust extends a potion's duration (the resulting potion ID is prefixed with `long_`). Glowstone Dust upgrades a potion to level II (prefix `strong_`). The two are mutually exclusive — a potion can be long OR strong, not both.
Add a Fermented Spider Eye directly to a Water Bottle — no Awkward Potion needed. This is the only effect potion brewed straight from a water bottle in vanilla.
