/whitelist
also /allowlistControls which players may join a server. Add or remove names, toggle enforcement on/off, reload the list from disk, or print it. Bedrock dedicated servers expose the same feature as /allowlist. A server-side command with no effect in single-player.
What is /whitelist used for?
What /whitelist is for
Controls which players are allowed to join a server. Add or remove names, turn enforcement on or off, and reload the list from disk. Bedrock calls it /allowlist.
When to use /whitelist
Lock a server down to friends or approved members only — the simplest defense against random griefers on a public IP.
Tips for /whitelist
Run /whitelist on to start enforcing it, then /whitelist add <name> for each player. After editing whitelist.json by hand, run /whitelist reload.

Common questions
How do I turn on the whitelist?
Run /whitelist on to start enforcing it, then /whitelist add <player> for each allowed player.
I edited whitelist.json — why no change?
Run /whitelist reload to re-read the file without restarting the server.
Permission level
/whitelist requires Server admin (op level 3). In single-player you need the world's "Allow Cheats" toggle on. On a multiplayer server you need to be opped — see /op.
