What is /time used for?

What /time is for

Sets or advances the world's game time, or queries the current day, time of day, or total elapsed ticks.

When to use /time

Skip to day to stop mob spawns, jump to night for testing or farming, or freeze time entirely for a permanent day on a build server.

Tips for /time

/time set day and /time set night are the quick presets. To lock time, pair it with /gamerule doDaylightCycle false. On Bedrock, /daylock does the same in one step.

Common questions

How do I set it to day in Minecraft?

Run /time set day (or /time set 1000). Use /time set night to jump to night.

How do I stop the day-night cycle?

Set /gamerule doDaylightCycle false to freeze time at the current moment. On Bedrock, /daylock does the same in one step.

Permission level

/time requires Cheats (op level 2). In single-player you need the world's "Allow Cheats" toggle on. On a multiplayer server you need to be opped — see /op.
