Common questions
How do I switch to Creative mode in Minecraft?
Type /gamemode creative (or the shorthand /gamemode c). Cheats must be enabled. To switch everyone at once, use /gamemode creative @a.
What's the difference between Adventure and Survival mode?
Survival lets you freely break and place blocks; Adventure mode blocks that unless an item is explicitly allowed to use the block, which is why map-makers use it to protect their builds.
Permission level
/gamemode requires Cheats (op level 2). In single-player you need the world's "Allow Cheats" toggle on. On a multiplayer server you need to be opped — see /op.
