Sets the game mode applied to players the first time they join the world. Unlike /gamemode (which changes a current player), this affects future joins and the world's default — handy for adventure maps and servers.

When to use /defaultgamemode
Make new joins start in Adventure on a map, or Survival on a server. Use /gamemode to change a player who's already in.

Permission level
/defaultgamemode requires Cheats (op level 2). In single-player you need the world's "Allow Cheats" toggle on. On a multiplayer server you need to be opped — see /op.
