Craft a Furnace from 8 blocks of Cobblestone arranged in a ring around the crafting grid. It smelts ore, cooks food, and more.

Step by step

    Gather Cobblestone

    Mine 8 Cobblestone with any pickaxe. Blackstone also works as a substitute.

    Craft the Furnace

    Fill all 8 outer slots of the crafting grid with Cobblestone, leaving the center empty.

Tips

  • Fuel goes in the bottom slot — coal, charcoal, wood, lava buckets, or a dried kelp block.
  • Place a Furnace in a village to create an Armorer-line villager job site (via Blast Furnace) — the plain Furnace itself doesn't assign a job.

FAQ

What can I use as a substitute for Cobblestone?

Blackstone works in the Furnace recipe. Cobbled Deepslate does not — only Cobblestone or Blackstone.
