The furnace smelts ores, cooks food, and converts raw materials (sand to glass, logs to charcoal) using fuel. It is the general-purpose smelting block.

What a Furnace does
- •Smelt ores into ingots and cook raw food
- •Make glass, charcoal, terracotta, and other processed blocks
- •Gives a small amount of XP when you collect smelted output
How to use the Furnace
Right-click to open, place the input on top and fuel (coal, charcoal, wood, lava bucket, etc.) below. Each item takes ~10 seconds. For bulk metal use a blast furnace and for bulk food a smoker — both run at double speed but are restricted to their item types.
