How to Make Lead in Minecraft
Craft a Lead (leash) from 4 String and 1 Slimeball. One craft makes two Leads.

- 1× Slimeball

Step by step

Get String and a Slimeball
String drops from spiders or comes from breaking cobwebs; Slimeballs drop from slimes or from baby pandas sneezing.

Craft the Lead
Place the Slimeball in the center, String above it, String to its left, and two String in the bottom-right diagonal. You get 2 Leads.
Tips
- Use a Lead on most passive mobs to tie them and lead them around, then attach the lead to a fence post to tie them up.
- Leads also work on boats to pull them.

What mobs can you put on a Lead?
Most passive and tameable mobs — horses, llamas, cows, pigs, sheep, wolves, and more. It won't attach to most hostile mobs.
