How to make a Lectern
Full crafting guide for Lectern → Step-by-step layout and ingredient sources.
What a Lectern does
- •Display a book that multiple players can read without taking it
- •Emit a redstone pulse when a reader changes the page (for page-driven contraptions)
- •Assigns the Librarian profession to a villager
How to use the Lectern
Right-click the lectern with a written book or book and quill to place it. Other players right-click to open and read it. A comparator behind the lectern outputs a signal proportional to the current page, which redstone builders use to make book-controlled inputs.
Villager job site: Librarian — place it near an unemployed villager to assign the profession.
